VCAs allow output levels of a number of channels to be controlled from a single Control Fader. Their fader strips appear on the control surface just like channels of any other type.
In place of the meter area towards the top of the channel strip, there is a display of all channels which are included within that VCA, listed by Channel Type.Note: Channels can be excluded from VCA mute control using their mute safe function, as described in the previous setup help page.
Adding Channels to VCAs
To add channels to VCAs, select the VCA routing button, then touch the appropriate VCA Selector to assign it to the Quick Controls:
The upper Quick Control switch can be used to add or remove the channel to or from that VCA– the number area of the VCA Selector will go green to indicate the channel is included in that VCA.
The Up/Down Quick Scroller arrow keys to the right of the Fader Tile Quick Controls can also be used to scroll up and down the bus Selectors by activating the Enter button just below the Quick Scroller arrow keys. A short press of the Quick Scroller keys navigates through the list one Selector at a time. Pressing and holding either key will jump up or down by 8 selectors, allowing quick navigation through a large number of VCAs. When finished, press the Enter button to deactivate and return the Quick Scroller keys to selecting different areas of the channel strip.
Alternatively press & hold the VCA's Query (Q) button to engage Query Assign mode. Use the path Select buttons to assign them to the VCA.
The colour bar in the channel's VCA Assign button will go orange to indicate that the channel has been assigned to at least one VCA.
The VCA Selectors display as follows:
Unnassigned and inactive.
Assigned to Quick Controls and inactive.
Assigned to Quick Controls and active.
Unassigned and active.
